Congrats to the lovely couple! They have two little girls, Romy and Cosima, and there were rumours that they were already married but now they're making it official surrounded by their family and closest friends. So happy for them!

marie-antoinette trivia (l)

Since there are no new Sofia news, I will continue with the movie trivia:

- This movie was going to be produced before 'Lost in Translation' (2003), but while Sofia was writing the screenplay struggling with historical truth and an imposing gallery of characters, she started creating another story in order to distract herself from the difficult enterprise. This parallel project - a small Japanese story - became 'Lost in Translation', whose planetary success revamped the 'Marie-Antoinette' production.

- Ladurée was chosen by Sofia Coppola to make all of the brightly colored pastries and cakes for the film.

- Sofia had originally wanted Angelina Jolie for the role of Madame Du Barry, but turned it down to star in 'The Good Sheperd', then Catherine Zeta-Jones was considered. The role eventually went to Asia Argento.

- Jason Schwartzman, who plays King Louis XVI, is Sofia's cousin.

- Was ranked #3 on US Weekly's "Top Ten Films of 2006".

- The men playing guitars in the scene with a woman signing for Marie are members of the group Phoenix, the lead singer of which is dating Sofia and is father of her daughters Romy and Cosima.

it's a coppola thing

This is a little gift for you all to wish you a Happy New Year, it's a photo of Sofia with little Romy on her arms while filming a scene for 'Somewhere'.

Many of you wouldn't recall but when he was filming, Francis Ford Coppola used to bring Sofia to his movie sets when she was a little girl, just like Sofia is doing now with Romy, isn't that an adorable family tradition? I bet Romy and Sofia's other daughter Cosima will love cinema as much as their family does.

sofia has another daugther: cosima!

Sofia has had another baby girl! Baby Cosima was born in New York City "within the last month" and joins big sister Romy, 3. So two girls for Thomas and Sofia, here she is going for a stroll with her newborn baby in SoHo on June 16.

The girl's name Cosima is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "order, beauty". Feminine form of Cosmo. Whata a beautiful name then! Congrats to Thomas, Sofia and Romy!!!

none plus one

Last time I talked about Sofia's niece Gia Coppola and how she was a photographer, well look who's made her directorial debut? Gia! She has filmed a gorgeous shortfilm with Tracy Antonopoulos starring 'Marie Antoinette'´s dear couple Jason Schwartzman and Kirsten Dunst!

The film has been shot to promote Opening Ceremony's Spring 2010 collection and it has music of Jason's band Coconut Records, every image looks delicious and Jason and Kiki together again are heaven to my eyes, enjoy another work of a talented Coppola filmmaker in the making:

Family bonding time

Spotted: Sofia, her cousin Jason Schwartzman and Romy in NYC - September 15

What a nice pic! I love, love Jason and he's bonding with the newest Coppola member, le petite Romy. And congrats to him because he's a newlywed! He won't appear in 'Somewhere' but I hope that he collaborates in another of her films because he's great and cool all around.

Rooney shoots cameo in 'Somewhere'

Great news! Filming has already started at the Chateau Marmont and guess who will star on the film too...? Benicio Del Toro! My God! This is getting better and better!

Remember Paul Bandino from 'The Virgin Suicides'? He's Robert Schwartzman, cousin of Sofia and lead singer of the band Rooney, I love that she always includes her family members in her projects!

we-are-family

A young Sofia with an even younger Robert Schwartzman, cousin of hers and brother of Jason.

For sure the Coppola clan is one big talented family and Robert is the lead singer of indie band Rooney (you have to listen to them because they sound great, their music was featured several times in 'The OC') but he also did some films when younger, like the 'Princess Diaries' and most important, his debut was in 'The Virgin Suicides', he played the really cool guy on the street Paul Bandino!!!
Talk about talent on the blood.

Aunt & Niece!

Here's Gia with Sofia. Gia is just 21 and is the daugther of Sofia's brother Gio, who died when she was born. I don't know what she does but she has been in some magazines and has taken some photographs. I'm sure she will be another talented member of the Coppola clan!

Not just a daddy's girl

Today I was in the mood to post this gorgeous pic of Sofia with her mom Eleanor Coppola. Mommy Coppola has Irish ancestry so Sofia has bood Italian-American and Irish blood and little Romy all of that and French blood as well. What a pretty good mixture, isn't it?

Sofia's boys: Volume III

Cousin Jason Schwartzman.

It's all in the family. Jason wasn't interested in acting, he then was a drummer in Phantom Planet, the band behind The OC´s main song "California", but Sofia introduced him to Wes Anderson's casting director, and it was a success because Jason got the main role on his film Rushmore. And since then he hasn't stopped working, including being directed by his cousin on Marie-Antoinette and last year he teamed with Sofia's brother Roman to co-write with Wes Anderson his new flick 'The Darjeeling Limited'.

Talent runs in the family!

Francis Ford Coppola knew his daughter would become a director by the time she was 3.

"My wife and I were driving in the car with Sofia and we were having a typical silly marital argument that was going on a little too long. All of a sudden this little voice in the back seat said, 'Cut!' She knew how to use that word at a very early age."

Later, when Sofia was about 6, on the set of her dad's film "Apocalypse Now" she would draw elaborate pictures of palm trees and helicopters and tell stories connecting the pictures.

"She was a very imaginative child," says her mother Eleanor Coppola. "But when she played with her friends, she always wanted them to play her way — her story, her costumes. And I would have to say, 'Sofia, not everyone wants to play your way.' But the kids, inevitably, did want to play Sofia's way. She had that pattern of somehow gathering everyone's enthusiasms, which is very much like a director."

Too cute.
